How to stream IPTV on Chromecast

Chromecast is Google's streaming dongle that plays content from your phone, tablet or laptop on your TV. Because you can't install a full IPTV app directly on a Chromecast, the reliable route is to cast from a phone using an app such as BubbleUPnP, which supports transcoding so more formats play smoothly.

How to add IPTV to Chromecast

  1. Set up ChromecastPlug in your Chromecast and connect it to Wi-Fi. Install BubbleUPnP on your Android phone.
  2. Join the same Wi-FiMake sure your phone and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Select the ChromecastOpen BubbleUPnP's left-side menu and pick your Chromecast as the renderer/device.
  4. Enable transcoding (optional)In the app's Chromecast settings, enable local transcoding so formats Chromecast doesn't natively support still play.
  5. Load your M3UOpen your M3U link (or file) in BubbleUPnP's Library, wait for the playlist to load, pick a channel and cast it to your TV.

FAQs

Why won't some channels play?

Chromecast doesn't support every audio/video codec. Enabling transcoding in BubbleUPnP fixes most of these by converting the stream on your phone.

Is there an easier way?

If your TV runs Android TV or Google TV, install a full IPTV app (like IPTV Smarters or GSE) directly on the TV instead of casting โ€” it's simpler and more stable.
